Affects Red has in our lives >>

Red is one of the two colours which affect us physiologically. The other is Blue. Red turns you on…. Blue switches you off. This happens to each person immediately, which is a physical response, then your own emotional needs, culture attitudes and societies attitudes add their own impact to how the colour affects you.

RED affects our sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system.

RED affects an arousal in the old reptilian part of the brain (the brain stem) which in turn sends messages to the mid brain. The immediate effect is to put us into a 'fight or flight' pattern, with the help of our adrenal glands. The message is to 'get ready to go'. It is therefore little wonder that people become very frustrated sitting at red lights, with dozens of red tail lights glaring at them trying to hold down the old instinct to GO!… when the lights are saying STOP!

RED relates to the physical, masculine part of our nature.

RED is AUTONOMOS (coming from the self). Any colour which has red in it will have something to do with the need to project the self.

RED relates to our BLOOD… our life support system. When we have a need for red in our lives the type of red suggests our physical health… the condition of our blood. We often need red when our energy is low to give us more energy. A need in our lives for red which is 'murky' or 'dirty' can show us that our blood needs attention.

RED is DISCENTRIC… action going outwards. The strength of red is that it can keep on going strongly.

RED is the colour of the now… today.

RED physiologically increase high blood pressure, breathing and the heart beat, as well as the production of adrenalin.

RED stimulates us in all ways. It stimulates our sex drive and strongly affects the gonads in men. Red also stimulates our appetite for food. Fast food restaurants make good use of this colour - with a touch of communicating yellow - to lure us in with bright red and bright lights. Restaurants that want to keep us there for many hours use deep blue/red with soft lighting.

RED relates to our ROOT chakra… the one connected to our physical energies and the earth.

RED is actually warmer than all other colours… its vibration is the slowest of all colours. Red socks, red underwear etc. is really warmer than any other colour.

RED is a colour that says "here I am". If you want to be noticed, wear red.

RED can make objects look larger. A box painted red looks larger and heavier than the same box painted blue.

RED brings objects towards us… blue moves them away.
