August
Fri 9 : New Moon
Fri 23 : Sun in Virgo :
When the Sun is in Virgo, details take on an enormous importance. An intellectually stimulating time, the Virgo Sun hones our logic and sharpens our sense of stability and value. Only the best will do right now -- from clothing to food to interpersonal communication -- anything that seems low in value will fall by the wayside. This Earth Sign also connects us to our physical selves through a sharp awareness of health and hygiene as well as a keen sensuality. Practical to almost a fault, Virgo energy will motivate us to enforce order onto whatever chaos the past months may have wreaked. Once comfortable with the nervous tension that this astrological influence can create, there is pleasure to be had at this time. It comes in the form of an acute appreciation of aesthetic beauty and the arts.

A good time for:
· Hunkering down with our most meticulous and detail-heavy tasks or responsibilities
· Taking a more active interest in your health -- quitting smoking, starting new fitness routines
· Enjoying detail-oriented games and crafts

Fri 23 : Full Moon : Quickening Moon SH : Corn Moon NH (Moon in Pisces)
[SH=Southern Hemisphere, NH=Northern Hemisphere]

Quickening Moon : Come August, we look toward spring. Imbolc reminds us of Brigid's fire, and so this month we focus on creativity and inspiration to hold us through the last grasps of winter. For our Full Moon ritual, we focus on Brigid and Her fiery nature. Brigid rules over the spheres of poetry, healing, and smithery. Decorate an area with a red cloth and set three candles out: black, red and white. Add a jug of cream as an offering to the Goddess, then, around the base of the area, arrange the items you use in your art, writing, or other creative projects. Invoke the Lady Brigid, then light the candles. Say: "Lady Brigid of forge and fire, hear now my heart's desire." Bless these tools with which I create, woo for me the hand of fate. Affirmation for the Quickening Moon: I am creative and inspired.

Corn Moon : As Lughnasadh, the harvest of grain and corn, arrives, we begin to think about the coming autumn and winter. Before the harvest can be reaped, we must rid ourselves of excess clutter.
Prepare a list of those things you are ready to sacrifice from your life for this season, for example: giving up the need for constant control of your life, or sacrificing the need for perfection. When you have your list, then focus on letting go of these unnecessary impediments from your life, and touch the paper to a candle flame. Drop it into a bowl and offer them to the spirit of the first harvest. Be sure to have water nearby in case of an unforseen accident. Affirmation for the Corn Moon: I sacrifice that which is no longer useful in my life.

Moon in Pisces : The Moon in Pisces marks a time of emotional sensitivity, nostalgia, and spirituality. People may become more sensitive, compassionate, and imaginative. As creativity will be enhanced, this is a good time to explore musical talents and other artistic endeavours. Represented by a Pair of Fishes, Pisceans are selfless and spiritual, often strongly intuitive, and they are receptive to the collective unconscious. While the Moon moves through Pisces, people may feel devoted and gentle but also fragile, passive, and timid. Dreams and memories may stir during this influence.

Crystal Focus >>
Each month we are going to focus on a different crystal to help you become acquainted with their elements and how they can help you.

Rainbow Obsidian Crystal:

Brings light and love to ones life, allowing for the recognition of the spiritual side of ones nature. It is also used for "gazing", especially in the areas of love matters, relationships and total development of ones etheric and physical form. It is a "stone of pleasure", bringing gratification and enjoyment to ones life.
