<<< January 2002 >>>

Saturn trine Neptune, early in the year, brings a significant softening of social attitudes and a re-assessment of the effects of social change. Our social outlook will be broadened and humanised, with revised attitudes to drug dependency and mental health. Health care will received much more attention, and we will see greater tolerance and acceptance of alternative health modalities. Neptune represents care and idealism, and Saturn channels this into constructive social practices.

Then, later in the year, when Saturn twice forms a trine with Uranus (August and December), we will see some recovery in key areas, such as telecommunications and high-tech industry. Uranus characterises radical social ideals as well as providing impetus to technological development. Harmonious interaction with Saturn allows these to be integrated into our collective thinking. We will see new approaches taken to eduction, and some development of ethical standards in government.

The influence of the constructive aspects provides hope, and the certainty that the difficulty we are presently experiencing can be overcome. The energy of the outer planets has a powerful hold on the collective consciousness, and can lead to the expression of our darkest fears. But a more powerful energy is the one we contribute. Each one of us has creative power over the tides which surge through our societies and our lives, and each of us has the ability to manifest an infinitely more compassionate and co-operative common view. Astrology shows where and how the tides will flow, but we determine how they are channelled.

Esoteric Day Dreaming >>

January
Sat 19 - 9 Feb: Mercury retrograde

Miscommunications, misunderstandings, delays, complications. Postpone important

decisions and travel. Negotiation, contract problems.

Sun 20: Sun in Aquarius: Aquarius is an air sign ruled by the planet Uranus. Always unconventional, Aquarius is future-oriented, constantly searching for new and different experiences that make life more interesting. Aquarius feels affinity with the Universe and respects the right of every living thing to exist and co-exist in harmony.

See below for the elements appreciated by Aquarians.

23 Jan - 6 Feb Saturn trine Neptune
A very helpful influence of growth, but not at the expense of social and spiritual needs. The authorities can empathise with social concerns: more acceptance of alternative health and lifestyle, improvements in health care, more support and empathy for the disadvantaged. Drug dependency and mental health issues are viewed more sympathetically. Saturn gives the idealistic Neptune practical expression.

Tues 29: Full Moon : Blessing Moon SH : Cold Moon NH (Moon in Leo)

Blessing Moon:
January arrives with lazy days and leaves with the sense that summer, while still around us, is running on borrowed time. In honour of the sense of freedom January brings to our hearts, we stretch our minds out to the world to strengthen our connections with the universe. Affirmation for the Blessing Moon: I sense my connection to the Universe.

Cold Moon: In January we turn our attention to new beginnings. This month, we focus our ritual on goals we want to achieve this year. Affirmation for the Cold Moon: Strengthen my drive for that which I aspire.

Moon in Leo: You have an emotional need to shine and be praised by others. You may express your feelings in a childlike manner - either playfully or dramatically. You have a natural affinity with children. You have a knack for organizing and leading. You nurture others by giving praise and encouraging them to be strong, bold and fearless. You view your mother as a regal, dramatic or prestigious person, and look for independence, warmth and strength in that relationship.
