Esoteric Day Dreaming
>> June Tues 11 : New
Moon Tues 11 : Solar Eclipse (Northern Australia will see a partial eclipse)
An annular solar eclipse occurs on Monday, 10 June, 2002 in the Northern Hemisphere
and Tuesday, 11 June in the Southern Hemisphere; however, the chances are that
not many people will see it, I'm afraid! The eclipse starts just off Sulawesi,
in the Celebes sea, and crosses the Pacific to end near Manzanillo, Mexico. The
path width will be over 70km, and the eclipse will last over a minute, at either
end; however, in the centre, the eclipse will last just 22 seconds and be just
13km wide. Pretty much the only land it touches is Mexico, and that just barely.
Since this eclipse cannot be safely viewed with the naked eye, it seems unlikely
to attract many watchers. The partial eclipse will be visible
over a wide area, however, including north-east Australia, eastern Indonesia,
south-east Asia, much of North America, and most of the Pacific. Thur
21: Sun in Cancer : When the Sun is in Cancer, things
may get a little moody and emotional. While Cancer motivates us to reflect on
our pasts, to draw our loved ones near to us and to nurture others without asking
for nurturing in return, this Moon-ruled Water Sign can really make us grumpy.
That said, Cancer could be a time of heightened emotional sensitivity, a time
when the cerebral connections forged under the Gemini Sun move to a more intimate
plateau. Flirtatious affections take on a greater gravity during this time as
the Cancer Sun exposes our emotions and lays bare our vulnerabilities. Socializing
takes a backseat to nostalgic memories and quiet nights at home. Food and family
become very important at this time, as they provide us an opportunity to nurture
one another and give us the most basic and unconditional of loves -- the very
thing we need most right now. A good time for: Taking
personal relationships to more substantial, serious levels Staying
in and looking through old photo albums and scrapbooks Perform
nurturing, domestic activities like cooking or gardening | |
Thur 21: Winter Solstice
The winter solstice marks the shortest day and the longest night of the year.
The sun appears at its lowest point in the sky, and its noontime elevation appears
to be the same for several days before and after the solstice. Hence the origin
of the word solstice, which comes from Latin solstitium, from sol, "sun"
and -stitium, "a stoppage." Following the winter solstice, the days
begin to grow longer and the nights shorter. The winter solstice is when the Earth
is tilted on its axis so the North Pole is slanted away from the sun. Long ago,
people lit fires on the winter solstice to entice the sun to return. Tues
