Psychick Focus >>

This month we have a mirad of things happening. A new DJ has joined the ranks of Epicycle. DJ Sherman and his Head Check Boogie : making deep, psychedelic, chunky tunes to get people on the dancefloor..

A new poem called "The Treasure" by Rudolph Joseph Scialo

A new link catagory: Music. And to go with it a wicked, London style music review. Mel and I popped over to Plastic at Zen to catch one of our favourite London DJs, Acid Techno's Chris Liberator and this is how it happened....

Chris Liberator @ Plastic>>

[Thurs: week before]
All by coincidence I was sitting on the ferry with nothing to read, when I spied a copy of the latest 3D World sitting on a chair. I picked it up and started de flick. Page 4... do I believe my eyes, jumping up and down inside, for joy. Chris Liberator is coming to town!

[Friday: following week]
Mel picked me up and off we went. Arrived at Zen niteclub at 11:30pm where Plastic was presenting Evil Acid 4. There was a few people there and they seemed to be warming up for some excellent acid, jumping around.

Got a drink and the perfect window seat with a full view of the DJ setup... wishing I had a running sheet to know who was playing.

Now there are some friends of ours in London who are part of de Liberator fan club so a texting we went to fill em in.

The dance floor was filling up quickly by the time the second DJ was in de acid trip. Lots of energy emerging. The first two DJs were really stompin it up. By then we were up and active.

Then Chris was on! Cheeky little grin in toe, mixin up de acid beats, he brought

de house to jumpin. Chris played a 1 1/2 hour set. The crowd was elevated, lots of grins and arms up high in salute to de ultimate Acid Tech DJ, as far as I am concerned. He grinned and smiled, loving his own music and the effect it had on everyone. We even got a few wicked laughs. Well done Chris, absolutely brilliant beats.

Chris cleaned the beat to one note then built it up for more inspiring acid sounds. We dedicated the last track to de London Crew.

Next up was Bexta. She looked a bit overwhelmed, but held it together well. Her set was just as lively with some busy stompin sounds.

Got a glimpse of Chris saying his goodbyes. I high tailed it up de stairs to have a chat with an artist. But as I got to the ticket box he was chatting to the box people and I didn't want to interupt. Kept walking up the stairs to the outside. Oh no day light.. can't stay here I thought. Back down the stairs and who do I meet. Chris ..

Such a kind hearted, genuine man. I think I got a bit star struck and didn't say the million and one things I had planned to say to him. He'd only flown in from London the day before and was flying to Melbourne to play a gig that night. Then off to Europe. Just a short trip, but definitely an inspiring one.

Can't wait to see you again soon Chris Liberator, just don't wait two years to come back again :)

Check out more photos from the gig.

To listen to some of Chris's stuff or catch him on the radio check out his website Chris Liberator @ Trust the DJ.
